I had dinner tonight with Erin, Robin, Malinda and Erin’s new little girl, Lauren. It was a gift to hang out with the Coeur d’Alene girls (plus Lauren), though we missed Jeanie. These girls will forever own a sweet spot in my memory for having shared the Coeur d’Alene experience. Thank you, ladies, for making the time tonight to meet up. It was wonderful to see you again.
I’ve been on vacation this past week, which gave me the opportunity to train more than I normally would. I had multiple workouts most days. The best was Wednesday. I did the early spin class, ran on the treadmill afterwards, and then hit the pool for a swim with Nitro. I love the extended workouts, though I haven’t had as much time to do them lately. This week did a lot for me on the training front.
I’m three months out from Canada and feeling pretty good. I need to stay consistent in the pool, get some longer rides in, and make sure I’m getting some runs in off the bike. I’m starting a new job tomorrow, which might make training more challenging at least at first, but I think it’ll all work out. With only three months left, it has to!
One bit of news, I signed up for the Goofy Challenge. It’s a weekend in January at Disneyworld where I will do a half marathon on Saturday and then a full marathon on Sunday. Each race comes with a medal. You get the Goofy medal for doing both. Cute, huh? I’ve had my eye on this event for a while and, since I didn’t make it to the Florida 70.3 at Disneyworld, I thought this might be a good year to make it happen.
I feel better about my running these days. I’ve been back on the trails and Jamie had me doing some track workouts for a while. I feel like I can push harder and longer. Maybe I’m getting faster? I need to start timing some of my longer runs to see how I’m doing. But I feel better. I feel stronger and faster. Not fast, but faster.
I’m thankful for this sport and the chance to participate in it. What a gift.
