Pretty much every Wednesday morning, I’m on the track with my team. Sometimes I make the 5:45 workout, sometimes the 7:00. I try to make the earlier workout most of the time, but which one I attend largely depends on how well or how much I slept the night before. Last night, Dave and I were out way past my bedtime (at a Henry Rollins show!), so I went to the 7:00 workout, just barely. It was hard to get moving this morning, but I’m so glad I made the workout. Out of Gas.
I ran out of gas today. I don’t mean that my energy fizzled and I took a nap or that I went running and couldn’t take another step. I mean that I ran out of gas driving down the highway. After a fun Green Bean Casserole Run and a lovely visit with two of my Kilimanjaro friends, I was driving home, and my car suddenly lost power. I could feel it coasting, so I turned on my hazards and navigated over to the right in the hopes that I could get to the shoulder before the car died completely. I did, but just barely. My driver side tires were pretty much on the line on the side of the road, so I crawled out the passenger side door and called for help. Then I waited. For over an hour, I waited. Continue reading

I Owe Ana (and Jeff too).
I had a breakthrough on the track this morning during a workout I almost slept through. I actually did sleep through my workout. I was scheduled to run with my team at 5:45, but my 5:00 a.m. alarm came and went and in my bed I slept. Then at 6:25, I woke up again and realized that I could make the 7:00 a.m. session with my team if I got moving immediately. It took me a second, but I got my butt out of bed and to the track I went.
